About the HWBOT World Tour 2016

The HWBOT World Tour 2016 is a series of overclocking events held at various locations around the world throughout the year. This year’s World Tour covered almost every corner of the globe with stops in South Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Asia Pacific regions.

The aim withe each event is to promote the sport of overclocking. Each stop provides a relaxed social environment for overclockers to learn, share and compete. To help nurture the next generation of overclockers, the World Tour provides open overclocking workshops that offer an overclocking experience where first timers can learn simple tricks and tweaks that can improve their system’s performance. Once they have learned the basics amateurs can also compete for prizes.

Belgium Massman says:

Best of luck to everyone! :ws: :celebration:

Sweden Rauf says:

I think it's a shame that it won't be a fair competition. Good luck bullshooter with afr/mfr in spi32m and physics. Can't you find a way to make it more fair? Like do separate mem sponsor in finals, or go with non mem intensive benchmarks.

South Africa DrWeez says:

Nice, question one, same hardware for the finals? Z170 and 6600k?

pxhx says:

We're on the same boat. HyperX only has Hynix.

Indonesia speed.fastest says:

Good luck Hazzan!

TaPaKaH says:

do you get disqualified if you use a monitor of a different brand?

Germany Bullshooter says:

The Rules are Crap, who must Bench with Hynix Mems, has no chance.

Canada marc0053 says:

I certainly hope that memory is the same for all contestants. It would level the playing field.

Indonesia Hazzan says:

yeahh agree I think better same all on memory

Belgium Massman says:

We committed to this format a long time ago with our World Tour event partners. We intend to keep our promise :)

Sweden Rauf says:

I understand. But to have 32m and 3d11 physics as benchmarks is not fair to contestants or sponsors...

Germany Bullshooter says:

When the system was X99 with MFR we have a little chance, because on Z170 no chance or the people with B-Die are limited with the CPU frequency at 5,5 GHz. :)

Canada marc0053 says:

Can we delid and change thermal paste on these i5 6600k and what operating system will be provided for the qualifiers and quarter/semi/grand finals?

Germany Bullshooter says:

Thats is a big joke, we become no Boards from MSI, they dont supported OC. I can spin the Chip on my fingers and hope i become a good run. lol

pxhx says:

Will we some time before 4th december to use the hardware? My motherboard was sent direct to Berlin.
Same question as Marc, Are CPUs delided? What operating system will be used?

Belgium Massman says:

Hey guys, 1) Yes, there will be time before the 4th to get ready 2) CPUs can be delided, but we only use der8auer's tool so we know it's safe. Afterwards we will re-glue the IHS so make sure to keep it :) 3) The Operating System will be Windows 10

OK, thanks Pieter!

are you serious, they wont give you a motherboard? In that case use whatever you want imo. Unless MSI agreed not to support the Overclockers in the beginning. SMH.

Germany Bullshooter says:

@ Splave drWeez and i become no Boards from MSI. I asked Pepi, MSI Germany, Albrecht asked MSI Netherland, no Boards for OC. :(

United States Splave says:

I'm sure hwbot staff will help you figure it out

Germany Bullshooter says:

They cant help, i write with PJ on FB

Germany der8auer says:

What about the boards you got from France?

Germany Bullshooter says:

We become in France one Board, the other go back to Pepi. The Board are dead

Romania Alex@ro says:

Not good, use an Impact and paint a dragon on it Frank :D Srsly, bad situation :(

Belgium leeghoofd says:

MSI's contract with HWBOT was clarified in the numerous mails we received. No contestants would be supplied with extra board(s) for the final.

Why didn't you RMA it Frank?

I think Massman doesn't allow mobo brand swap...

The Board are dead

Bullshooter:

I have one Z170A Xpower spare I'm not using, already coated with dielectric grease for Extreme OC Benching, BIOS is 1.5 Official I use for G.Skill OC World Cup.

Would you like me to bring it so you can use it?

Germany Bullshooter says:

@ Albrecht i didn´t RMA the Board, i want to test the Board, on the weekend 5/6 November, put it out of the Box and dead. It is too late for RMA. @ Lucky_n00b that are real nice, thanks, please bring the board to the Final.

You got it. See you in the final ;)

Belgium Massman says:

You're a legend, Alva! //edit: I'd like to add to the conversation that MSI did offer RMA for a broken board, but it's too close to the Championship. Furthermore, Z270 is right around the corner so Z170 is all sampled out.

Germany Bullshooter says:

Alva you are the man. Thousands Thanks for You.

Canada marc0053 says:

Hi all, the finals are fast approaching :D
Most of us cannot bring certain items on the flights such as MAPP gas tanks, Electronic contact cleaner spray, Liquid electrical tape, acetone. Do you guys think we can find that near the caseking location in Berlin fairly easily?
If anyone happens to have some extra of these items or could buy me some in advance to the competition I could send PayPal funds.

Is there a nearby hostel or hotel you guys recommend? or this is already booked for us and we pay once there?

Belgium Massman says:

Hotel is covered :)

Ah the classic mistake dude, you asked to many questions at once. Maybe ask the other questions again.. one at a time

Pieter could we start a Facebook group for the finalists to get last min details ?

United Kingdom gavbon says:

Good luck to everyone participating :D

Sweden Rauf says:

Prizes are a big surprise, I would have thought prize money had been budgeted from the start of this series... especially considering that qualifiers had prize money... I regret spending time and cash on the wild card qualifier. Dancop really was the winner in that one, he won first prize in the finals without having to go to Berlin. Wild card was nothing but a scam. And we even had to pay for it. When did hwbot know or suspect there would be no sponsoring for the finals? My thoughts of the finals: an unfair competition where the skill of the competitors vary alot and the prizes for the grand final are not so grand at all. To me it is more of a marketing ploy than a "world championship". The sad thing is that it is not even a marketing ploy since no one is even willing to sponsor it. There are two yearly competitions worthy of calling themselves "world championship", and hwbot world tour is not one of them... As far as I know hwbot is planning on another world tour next year? If so I would like to see two major changes or you can scrap it: - Find a way to make sure level of competition is strong in every qualifier. - Finalize the grand final prize before the first qualifier. And finalize qualifier prizes well in time for each qualifier.

What an event ! That was really great to see so many faces and a pleasure to do the stream. Good discussion with Alva on the state of OC, funny talk with Christian, glad to see Paolo catching up on English even that is too bad he ended up 4th while being all on its way to the gold final ! DrWeez rocked it and along with Alva never stopped smiling, keep smiling guys ! The new guy bene and DSLR came in like a bang shaking the qualifier ranking, that spiced up the day ! Marc0053, you deserve that title of winner of the world championship I am sure the the guys at OCN are proud of.you, the past 4month have been intense in terms of research and sharing information. Congrats ! See you in 2017 !

Is there are any qualifiers level thats not strong? I think all qualifiers level is strong.
