It has been over six months since my last news post regarding the overclocking exploits of the 18-year old (or should I say ‘young’) South-African top-overclocker Vivi. At that time, he was breaking several world records using his E8600 from
heaven hell, but now he’s moved on to a newer platform: the Core i7.
The Mfana reported about his initial overclocking tests over at XtremeSystems, where he showed off a Core i7 975 at 5.5GHz 1M using only dry ice. Next to that, he was able to run 3DMark06 at 5.2GHz, HT enabled and still on dry ice. But all this were mere preparations for the real overclocking session later that week, using LN2 on both the CPU and the GTX295. During that session, Vivi managed to score silver in the 3DMark Vantage single card ranking or, how people refer to it, the world record using a non-Mars video card.
By the way, for those who haven’t noticed yet, you can see Vivi on the right hand side of this article placed 10th in the HWBOT Overclockers League!
