Final Details of HWBOT World Series 2015 at Lan ETS Available (contest + prizes)

On March 6,7 and 8 the North America stop of the HWBOT World Tour 2015 takes places at the LanETS event in Canada. We look forward to seeing everyone for three days of non-stop overclocking. As the event is coming up shortly, we can announce the competition details as well as the prizes up for grabs for the participants.

World Series competition details

The World Series competition is designed for attending overclockers who will be benching with liquid nitrogen. The competition is designed as a three stage round, each stage featuring its own set of specific limitations.

Stage 1: SuperPI 1M Hardware Points

For this stage, you can use a broad selection of hardware to compete. What matters is to score the most hardware points as possible with your system using the SuperPI 1M benchmark. If you have questions regarding how hardware points are calculated at HWBOT, check out this post here.

Stage 2: Hit the Target

On Saturday, we will have a 2h session to hit a specific target. Applying the “draw from a hat” method, we select one out of 6 possible benchmarks for which the target will be a random number. Below you can find the 6 benchmarks and their respective ranges:

  • 11 Performance -> 12,000 – 15,000
  • Fire Strike -> 7,000 – 11,000
  • Sky Diver -> 25,000 – 30,000
  • Vantage -> 45,000 – 55,000
  • Unigine Heaven Extreme -> 3,400 – 3,600
  • Catzilla 1440p -> 5,000 – 7,000

Arriving the closest and the fastest to the target yields the most points.

Stage 3: Cinebench R15

This stage is a full out stage. Your Cinebench score will be divided by the amount of cores you’ve got on your CPU. No other limitations.

World Series competition prizes

And now to the cool part! As you may know, we’ve got Overclock.net, Overclocking-TV as well as DimasTech on board as sponsor. And thus some cool prizes up for grabs! Overclock.net brings a couple of Radeon R9 290 graphic cards to the prize pool, Overclocking-TV contributes with some cool T-shirts and the top three winners goes home with bench tables by DimasTech. Just like the one below:

World Series for Amateurs competition

The World Series for Amateurs is a competition designed for beginners and first-time overclockers. Open to all LanETS participants, visitors as well as any overclocker from the Rookie to Enthusiasts Leagues, the World Series for Amateurs features an overclocking workshop, a qualification tournament, and an elimination tournament. The Workshop is about 30-45min long and will run on Saturday from 10am to 8pm (with a short break around lunch time). Up to 4 overclockers can participate at a time and receive training on how to overclock your CPU and memory. The benchmark of choice is XTU. If you have already overclocking experience and an HWBOT account, you can go straight to the qualifier systems – but if this is your first time, you must complete the workshop.

For the Amateurs competition, systems are provided, there is no necessity to bring anything.
