TeamAU Breaks 8 World Records in 4 Days With GIGABYTE X99-SOC Champion and Z97X-SOC Force

Traditionally GIGABYTE holds a Secret OC event right before any major new Intel platform launch. Sometimes the Secret OC is widely covered on Facebook, like for example when the in-house overclockers were testing the Z97 chipset, and sometimes it’s really a secret. The X99 Secret OC session was kept secret for most of the overclocking community, and only after the event we saw the damage by the team formed by HiCookie, Sofos1990, Dinos22, YoungPro (TeamAU), SniperOZ, Vivi, and Steponz. And we’re not just talking about the OC Lab door …

As the title of the article already points out, TeamAU achieved an incredible feature breaking no less than 8 (eight!) overclocking World Records in four days. Two of the records have since been re-taken by the inevitable K|ngp|n, but that makes the achievement nothing worth anything less. Since we clearly (re-)defined what constitutes a World Record at HWBOT, this is the biggest “slam dunk” so far. Amazing!

Normally we would make a newsflash item for each of the World Records but given the magnitude of the achievement, there’s nothing else we can do than combine all the records in one large news article. You can find an overview of the TeamAU World Records below.

As you can see, the primary components of the World Record systems are the Core i7 5960X combined with the upcoming GIGABYTE X99-SOC Champion motherboard. Two legacy World Records also went down for which TeamAU used the Core i7 4770K and the GIGABYTE Z97X-SOC Force motherboard. Graphics wise, TeamAU makes use of 4x GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980s powered by the GPowerboard.

The rest of the system is formed by G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 and Corsair Dominator Platinum memory. The PSUs and and SSDs are also coming from Corsair, with the AX1500i and Force (GT) respectively.

Congratulations for the incredible achievement!

Note: TeamAU broke the record for 3DMark Fire Strike twice. Their first submission on December 6 was countered by K|ngp|n, but one day later TeamAU redeemed the top spot. The Fire Strike Extreme World Record is in the hands of K|ngp|n again since December 10, 2014.

Global First Place

In the same four-day period the Secret OC team also scored 24 (twenty-four!) Global First Place results. The list includes 9x TeamAU, 6x Sofos1990, 4x Vivi, 4x SniperOZ and 1x Steponz. You can find the results submitted on Saturday in our Global First Place round-up news item. The rest, submitted from Sunday forward, will be included in our next round up.

Congratulations to the entire team once again!
