GIGABYTE EOC 2014 Rules and Guidelines

Friday 8th, August 2014 - "know-cube" at University Heilbronn.


Agenda

  • 9:00 am: Arival
  • 9:30 am: Official opening
  • 9:45 am: System set-up, insulation
  • 11:00 am: Competition starts [Time: 5 hours]
  • 4:00 pm Finishing of competitions, award ceremony

Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse will also be provided by GIGABYTE.

  • Utilities: CPU-Z, GPU-Z, Easy Tune, GIGABYTE TweakLauncher, 3DMark2001 installer


Competition regulations

  • 1. Hardware and software are provided by GIGABYTE and official sponsors.
  • 2. No brands other than GIGABYTE and approved official sponsors will be allowed.
  • 3. The teams are allowed to wear unbranded team-shirts.
  • 4. GIGABYTE will provide motherboard replacement if the original one dies or fails, but competitors can swap the motherboard onetime only.
  • 5. LN2 will be provided by GIGABYTE.
  • 6. Out of insurance reasons it’s not allowed to bring your own dewar to the event! Also not for refilling.
  • 7. Please bring your own LN2 containers.
  • 8. Thermal paste will be provided by GELID Solutions
  • 9. No graphics card modification is allowed, including removing the standard cooling fan or using a bench-box or a similar tool to cool down the ambient temperature.
  • 10. SSDs are pre-installed and configured with windows XP SP3, windows 7x64, drivers, benchmarks and utilities.
  • 11. No outside software, non-GIGABYTE prepared thumb drive, optical device, laptop etc are allowed.
  • 12. Power source for competition is 220V.
  • 13. New USB thumb drives will be provided by GIGABYTE to save scores and screen shots.
  • 14. Contestants may bring their own multi-meter or digital temperature meter.
  • 15. Please bring your own Thermos bottles to the event.
  • 16. Gas torches and other open flame heaters are not allowed.
  • 17. Hairdryers and heat guns are allowed, but will not be provided, so bring your own.
  • 18. Contestants need to bring their own insulation tool kits. Also paper towels, extra thermos, Vaseline, Armaflex, scissors.etc.
  • 19. Use the GIGABYTE competition background.
  • 20. Scores will only be accepted during competition time.
  • 21. No alcohol during the competition.
  • 22. Copies of all photos/videos taken during the competition have to be given to GIGABYTE after the competition.

There will be dedicated GIGABYTE Technical Staff Referees to verify the score and screen shots.


Rules

  • 1. HWBot competition application will be used to upload the scores directly to HWBot.
  • 2. Points will be awarded based on the results of each benchmark.
  • 3. Points will be totaled and posted at the end ofthe competition.
  • 4. Teams can update their results continuously within the valid set period of time set up by GIGABYTE. However each result has to be uploaded straight after it was achieved. No sandbagging!
  • 5. Benchmark scores submitted after time is called will not count.
  • 6. Teams should “Printscreen” (PrtSc), save the results to a thumb drive provided by GIGABYTE while keeping both CPUz (MB, CPU, RAM), GPUz and the benchmark windows active, then raise their hand to submit a score.For SuperPi32m also show CPUz SPD window.
  • 7. GIGABYTE judges will then verify and take down the score.
  • 8. For CPU-Z clock and Memory Clock competition safe the .cvf file directly on the GIGABYTE thumb drive.
  • 9. Pre-saved scores won’t be valid. Judges may ask participants to move/drag the CPUz window to make sure that CPUz and the benchmark are both active.
  • 10. Teams are not allowed to change their system clock in any way.
  • 11. Failure to submit a score for a benchmark will not lead to disqualification.
  • 12. Teams are not allowed to accept help from outsiders, including media, overclockers who are not competing, and teams who have been knocked out or are no longer benching (teams are not allowed to accept hardware from competitors who have been knocked out). If a team accepts help or hardware from any source other than a judge, they may be disqualified.
  • 13. The team with the highest points at the end of the competition will be declared winner. Judges should be informed of any results challenges before the winner is declared, with the head judge to make the final call.
  • 14. GIGABYTE judges may ask teams to run benchmark sagain to verify scores.
  • 15. Every team needs to save a screenshot of the result, otherwise the score isn’t valid.
  • 16. In case of a tie, the team with the highest Memory Clock will be the winner.
  • 17. Any attempt to cheat or bend the rules in any shape or form may result in disqualification and possible exclusion from future GIGABYTE events and contests.
  • 18. Please keep this competition fair and honest.
