Is there anyone who has the full set in his collection? Tried hard to avoid that!

January 31, 2014 at 8:45:42 AM GMT

The question is: Does anyone have any of that stuff? :D I can't even participate in a single stage haha.

January 31, 2014 at 9:01:51 AM GMT

Geared for all but stage 1.

January 31, 2014 at 9:32:12 AM GMT

Roman just got Ney'd

January 31, 2014 at 9:42:17 AM GMT

lol, +1 Roman... nothing

January 31, 2014 at 9:43:55 AM GMT

What is GT610? :D

Got everything else.

January 31, 2014 at 10:00:16 AM GMT

lol, CloudGate on GT610. I can still use the GT610 PCI (if it is allowed) from the CountryCup - slideshow detected? Is it going to start at all?

The only stage I can be competitive is the 1xAMD hwbotprime.

SDRAM - well, no way on super7 socket motherboard.

January 31, 2014 at 11:06:44 AM GMT

Can we use dual socket MB in Pentium II Wprime?

January 31, 2014 at 11:07:20 AM GMT

I think I have a pci SIS card for round 4, and will buy a GT610 for round 1, since I've been meaning to get a low profile/power + silent GPU for 2D benching anyway. Everything else though, NOOOOPE, way too old to keep around taking up valuable GPU storage space. :P

January 31, 2014 at 1:15:11 PM GMT

Looks like we can use semrpons for stage 2, unless i'm missing something. However, it's a big waste of time. I did it a month ago and a 6ghz sempron gets killed by a 4ghz celeron.

January 31, 2014 at 1:25:54 PM GMT

Massman, any chances to get more time? Some stuff isn't available in my desk :D

January 31, 2014 at 1:33:29 PM GMT

I've got all the gear except the GT610. :P

For Stage 4, there is no 3dfx card that can run 3dmark03... Even the V5 5500 can only run 3dmark99/00/01 and AM3.

January 31, 2014 at 1:37:13 PM GMT

Time to undust some obscure 3dfx cards :D

It even gets killed by a single-core Yonah and Penryn at 2.3-2.66GHz.

Not sure what's wrong, it looks worse than the difference in SuperPi by a big margin.

I will freeze mine for CB R15 anyway, so will do a couple of hwbotprime runs too.

January 31, 2014 at 1:48:40 PM GMT

Which GF GT 610 is allowed btw, there are in 4 afaik:

GF GT 610

GF GT 610 OEM

GF GT 610 PCI

GF GT 610 PCIe x1

January 31, 2014 at 1:54:46 PM GMT

I'm out :P zero gear for these setups... have fun, I'll grab some pop corn...

January 31, 2014 at 5:01:25 PM GMT

I'm gonna guess that Rasparthe has all this stuff once he gets done digging through his collection. :)

January 31, 2014 at 10:06:23 PM GMT

Was just about to say I have everything until I realized what I thought said Phenom II was in fact Pentium II xD

Nope not got everything then.

January 31, 2014 at 10:34:18 PM GMT

Geared for all but stage 1.

Me Too. :)

January 31, 2014 at 11:21:09 PM GMT

Need about 1.5-2 months to make a good Pentium 2 score :(

February 1, 2014 at 1:31:40 PM GMT

is the amd stage a single cpu or cpu thread? bit confusing

February 1, 2014 at 2:54:57 PM GMT

Ohh yeah AMD CPU HT on allowed ? xD:)

February 1, 2014 at 7:34:34 PM GMT

for stage 4 is a dual gpu ok or not?like the 3Dlabs Wildcat Realizm 800

February 1, 2014 at 9:05:40 PM GMT

is the amd stage a single cpu or cpu thread? bit confusing

Yes, this one. The intro seems to suggest a single core processor but the stage states that it is x1 CPU, meaning I can use a 8350?

Looks like a great competition!

February 1, 2014 at 10:00:02 PM GMT

Am I to understand that we are allowed to disable cores for SC2?

Because based on the the limitations and past competitions my understanding is that it must be ONE SINGLE CORE CPU and NO CORE DISABLING.

Untitled_zpsfc4bcc45.jpg

Just wanna be clear so I'll know.

Thank you...

Use 1 processor core(s) in total.

Yes, allowed

Disabling cores is never allowed, so the CPU must be single core.

February 2, 2014 at 6:18:08 AM GMT

can i use nvidia 610m?

February 2, 2014 at 4:14:40 PM GMT

How do I know if my gpu is allowed in the "Rare Vendor" 3dmark03 stage?

What do you mean exactly for "Rare Vendor"?

February 2, 2014 at 4:42:32 PM GMT

There is a list of acceptable vendors in the stage page, under the rules of the stage.

'Only use SIS, XGI, Matrox, PowerVR, S3, 3DLabs, 3DFX videocards.'

February 2, 2014 at 5:20:00 PM GMT

Only use SIS, XGI, Matrox, PowerVR, S3, 3DLabs, 3DFX videocards.

Are the on-board (chipset) graphics allowed ???

Are they considered to be videocards ???

February 2, 2014 at 6:44:17 PM GMT

The Pentium II stage says :

Only use processors from the Intel Pentium 2 family.

Is it ok to use PII based Celeron (Mendocino)?

February 3, 2014 at 2:04:08 AM GMT

can i use nvidia 610m?

I'll add all the 610 variants. (so yes)

Are the on-board (chipset) graphics allowed ???

Are they considered to be videocards ???

Yup allowed. They are considered videocards :).

The Pentium II stage says :

Is it ok to use PII based Celeron (Mendocino)?

All Processors allowed can be found under the hardware database, here: http://hwbot.org/hardware/processors#key=intel_pentium_2. So to answer your question: yes. :)

February 4, 2014 at 8:55:23 AM GMT

why no agp-only? :(

so real cool classic cards like voodoo 5 are chanceles against modern s3 .__.

i´ll try agp anyway >.<

apart from that a nice fun-competition ;)

February 4, 2014 at 10:31:49 AM GMT

Voodoo won't run 3DMark 03.

Just wondering - am I the only one who has a full set of hardware (though, pretty medium to fight for rankings)? :D

February 4, 2014 at 12:25:47 PM GMT

I have all except stage #1 which is mainly the matter of buying it. But will probably participate only stage #3 and #5.

February 4, 2014 at 12:33:58 PM GMT

Actually Voodoo4/5 can run GT1... however it requires some sw hacks via 3D analyze...

http://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1129&whichpage=64

3DMark03 runs with Alpha35 plus 3DAnalyze ( emulate Cube Maps ).

Small texture problems at the front of the planes and with transparency at the windows.

Result : 95 3DMarks with Voodoo4 PCI

As for the hardware - I have everything except the GeForce GT610. Maybe I'll buy one. :D

February 4, 2014 at 12:51:33 PM GMT

Such tweaks are forbidden here @hwbot. It is forbidden to run benchmarks "indirectly".

February 4, 2014 at 1:27:10 PM GMT

Yes, I know.

I think the best benchmark for voodos is the 3Dmark 2000. Most of them can run it at default settings - V2 SLI and up. 3Dmark 99 is bit too much CPU limited.

It would be nice to have some competition with voodoos in the future.

February 4, 2014 at 3:25:08 PM GMT

+1

voodoo ftw! :woot:

February 4, 2014 at 6:33:25 PM GMT

This way you can run even 3DMark 03/05 completely.

February 4, 2014 at 11:36:50 PM GMT

i have a voodoo 3 pci and dont run 3dmark 03 !!

February 5, 2014 at 5:51:39 AM GMT

i have a voodoo 3 pci and dont run 3dmark 03 !!

it's ok. no voodoo can run the 3dmark03 natively.

February 5, 2014 at 9:33:46 AM GMT

Pentium 2 Celeron socket 370 can run on competition ?

February 5, 2014 at 9:42:43 AM GMT

Which one exactly ?

February 5, 2014 at 11:54:42 AM GMT

this cpu is allowed??

http://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/pentium_2_celeron_500mhz_s370/

:)

February 5, 2014 at 4:46:45 PM GMT

Will 3d Analyze work with some of the other brand DX8 cards or is it Voodoo only?

Would have been nice if the bench would have been 01 / AM3, have on hand cards from most of the vendors, only one that will do 03 by design.

February 5, 2014 at 5:23:35 PM GMT

it will work with other cards as well.

but for dx8 cards it's mostly useless, because dx8 cards already have the features 3d analyze emulates natively.

Confused for a bit; Wiki showing the Voodoo line as DX8 cards thus the statement, Vintage3d, DX7 as well as a few other sites. Actually played a few games on the cards should have remembered.

Not seeing Matrox and 3Dlabs in the directory listing when browsing video cards, personally done a couple of Matrox cards.

February 5, 2014 at 7:14:11 PM GMT

yeah, the cards support dx8 but have no dx8 features like pixel shading. etc.

February 5, 2014 at 10:48:09 PM GMT

Aleslammer, anyway 3Danalyzer and stuff like that is forbidden at HWBot. Pixel shaders are required only for tests 2-4. First test doesn't need them (and works on GF4 MX without shaders).

The problem is with features like Cube maps and other, the Futuremark whitepaper describes them. And that's what Voodoo doesn't support AFAIK.

And the main one - how about 32-bit color on Voodoo? ;) most of them don't support it.

February 6, 2014 at 5:51:11 AM GMT

yep.

voodoo 4 and voodoo 5 support 32 bit.

the first test won't run natively on voodoos because it needs t&l as well as cubemaps like you said.

February 6, 2014 at 11:14:57 PM GMT

Oh, TnL. You're right Karl, another Voodoo's weak spot.

February 7, 2014 at 9:46:07 AM GMT

I guess , i cant participate with a board (Asus CUV4X) that cpu-z CANT read the memory speed ?

http://valid.canardpc.com/2nv9ep

February 7, 2014 at 10:02:37 AM GMT

There was special cpu-z for socket 370. Try it.

For stage-1

http://hwbot.org/competition/feb_teamcup_warmup/stage/1240_cloud_gate_gt_610/

Can we also use the regular version of GT-520 ?

Which is the exact same product to GT-610 (simply renamed).

Exact same core (GF119) , exact same specs (Shaders / TMUs / ROPs = 48 / 8 / 4).

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/285/geforce-gt-520.html

February 13, 2014 at 12:10:13 PM GMT

No, only the GT 610

February 14, 2014 at 12:32:54 PM GMT

If you have a BP6 and don't win stage 3, shame on you. :P

February 14, 2014 at 6:32:14 PM GMT

It seems CPU-Z detects wrong SDRAM clock on VIA KT133 chipset.

CPU-Z states FSB + 33 MHz. 132 + 33 = 165 on screenshot below.

However the real mem clock is FSB + PCI (Aida 64 shows this correctly)... In this example calculation is:

PCI = 132/3 = 44 MHz

FSB = 132 MHz

Mem = 132 + 44 = 176 MHz

sdr_2nhi6y.png

So the question is - can I submit the real clock (Aida 64) or stick to the (incorrect) CPU-Z value?

February 14, 2014 at 7:00:53 PM GMT

Try the latest cpuz

February 15, 2014 at 9:22:08 PM GMT

Same as 1.59.

sdr_3w9j3l.png

February 15, 2014 at 9:28:58 PM GMT

Doesn't really matter as long as everybody submits the same way.

February 19, 2014 at 11:22:09 AM GMT

There was special cpu-z for socket 370. Try it.

It doesnt work.

February 19, 2014 at 3:15:27 PM GMT

on cusl2 and my other 370 the normal version works :o

February 19, 2014 at 3:49:58 PM GMT

Yup. But they are i815, cuv4x not :P

February 19, 2014 at 3:56:56 PM GMT

Yes because they are i815, but cuv4x have VIA chipset :)

February 25, 2014 at 4:17:34 AM GMT

WOW, easy first overall!

February 25, 2014 at 4:25:54 AM GMT

There seems to be a problem with the competition submissions. Not sure what's going on, but hopefully we can resolve this ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience!

February 26, 2014 at 10:25:41 AM GMT

Stage 4: chrome 25 vs. wildcat 800?

might be interessting :)

whats the best non nvidia/amd-vga? ^_^

February 26, 2014 at 4:50:24 PM GMT

For your last statement I’d probably go with a S3 Chrome 540 GTX or S3 Graphics 5400E x2 if the latter made it the wild. The 20, 400 & 500 series cards are non-existent on Ebay figured there would be a few floating around somewhere must of had a little HTPC market share.

February 26, 2014 at 5:51:28 PM GMT

Yes, the only S3 Chrome available on ebay is the S25.

Anyway, I don't have the resources to compete, so good luck to other teams.

Are u sure u have it ?

Edit:

Can i suggest rule for stage 4 "At least 1% overclock of GPU" :D

February 27, 2014 at 9:48:32 AM GMT

u really have a 540 gtx? =O

not bad Ö_Ö

i also can´t compete. :( the xabre600 is best i have for this stage .__.
