The overclocking was easy to 4.0Ghz from stock 3.2GHZ. The system detected the CPU, memory, and SSD drive without any problems. I did set the port hooked up to the SSD to AHCI The board was easy to install and I didn't have any problems with the memory and the bigger CPU cooler. I'm using the 6Gbs/s SATA interface with the C300 SSD. What was important when building this system was longevity. I can add another GPU or upgrade to the next gen CPU if the system needs more power when newer processors come out. In the rare event that applications need it, the memory can be expanded to 16GB. Lots of USB ports to handle all of my USB devices ~10 devices. I no longer need a USB hub.
The installation was a breeze after putting the computer together, loading up windows 7 was fast and then loaded the driver disk and I was online in < 45 minutes.
The only bad thing I can say about the board is that when using an oversized heatsink, choose a low profile memory stick or at least one without the tall memory heatsinks the 1st slot will be unusable.
On top of all the expandability, the motherboard looks sexy with the black and red color scheme.
Bottom line, The system is fast and sexy.
There has been concern over the NB and SB standoffs, but I am not having and heat issues as a result of that problem. I must have gotten lucky with that. Probe is the only program giving accurate reading on the temperatures, but some are saying even that is reading lower temps than what it should be. Right now mine is at 34C CPU, 32C MB, 44C NB and 41C SB. My Nvidia card was causing the NB and SB to heat up pretty bad until I downloaded Rivatuner and up'ed the fan speed.
The options on the board are absolutely ridiculous. You can overclock at the push of a buttong on the board, reset it, power it up and unlock the cores right from the board. For the tech type, it has the ability to test voltages right from the board. It has LED lights on each important part of the board that go from green to yellow to red for troubleshooting. Obviouly the CPU LED is always yellow when overclocking.
Beware, if you ask for a replacement, they will send you a used board!!! So either be prepared to fix the board your self if you have NB and SB heat issues or lump it with what they give you...
I definitely ecommend this product, but do your homework if you buy one. Be careful if your OC!!!
One important thing to note: this board is not meant for more then one Nvidia board. You can run multiple ATI Radeon cards but make sure you get the right cards to do so. I will be trading in my NVidia 260 Nvidia BE cards for 2 ATI Radeon 6850's thanks to XFX who helped me out on that one. I was also told not to bother going with a 3rd and fouth GPU because scaling goes down, but I am still curious what four GPUS all at x16 will do in this board.
I can tell you that I am loving the board, its capability and gaming has a whole new meaning after coming from the M2N SLI Deluxe.
One interesting note is.... I pulled my HDD from my HP p6510f that has Win7 Home Premium; once the machine POSTed Windows failed to load, it would reboot and attempt to repair. After scouring the forums it appears that this is a pirate-prevention fail safe from MSFT. Given that the OS recognizes all of this new hardware as a new machine it prevents the OS boot due to hardware changes. I cannot recover using my system discs because it is not an "HP product". Thus I will need to purchase a new HDD and a copy of the Win 7 system build OEM. It is a small price to pay given how awesome this MOBO and CPU pair is.... But it is pertinent to those who wish to upgrade their MOBO on their machine.
